SuperFly FDT

The SuperFly FDT is the exact same board/shape as the SuperFly FD. The only difference is the trench to accommodate the Foil Drive Gen 2 and other Foil Drive units. As well as Foil Drive Gen 2, it also will accommodate the Manta unit. Although the volumes of these sizes are a few liters less than the original SuperFly FD boards, in the water and when the board is in use there is no difference that can be noticed. Jimmy learned about the incredibly cool Foil Drive when a friend in Maui called and asked if he had any Super Fly foil rides in stock. When he came to get one, he told him that Paul Martin from Foil Drive had made several videos for his Foil Drive system, and of the several boards he had tested with his Foil Drive, the Super Fly was one of his favorite boards. Within a few weeks, the entire stock of Super Fly boards that were available in Hawaii sold out as more and more people began using the Foil Drive system. Jimmy Lewis immediately knew that he needed to create a new Super Fly model with a super functional and efficient bottom shape. Paul mentioned some things he liked about the original Super Fly, and one of the things I heard was a low rocker. With the shape of the bottom this is a “seaplane” where the rocker can be very low and not get stuck. The nose of the board can dig into the water at speed, and before the rider feels any resistance, the board will be planing again. All these points were taken into account in the new SuperFly FDT model and a separate cavity was made at the bottom for installing the Foil Drive system. But this model is not limited to use with Foil Drive. You can row it while lying down with the same results and efficiency, or use a wing.
